All About Personality.. Miss Kennedy || Fallbrook Children's Photographer

Personality has got to be my favorite thing to capture with my camera. A pretty face always looks nice, but soulful eyes or a mischievous grin transcend pretty and make a moment even more full of meaning.When you can look back and feel your child's personality, their wonder, their laugh, their soul.. to me, that is priceless.

  I first starting photographing Kennedy almost three years ago. She was one of my first clients and I fell in love with her!  Her spunk and quick smile, and that little attitude that one day will help her rule the world have me wishing that we were still in Virginia full time! She is the very definition of personality and I just love her!

Just a few of my favorites...

 The vintage butterfly clips in her hair were passed down from her Grandmother. I loved them!!

Irrational Fears and Public Speaking... The Girl Scouts || Fallbrook Children's Photographer

I have a massive fear of public speaking, and at times it is down right irrational. I am still haunted by the one time in high school youth group that I was asked a direct question and when I tried to answer, my cheeks burned, my heart raced and my voice was about an octave too loud. I saw everyone in the room snap their head around to look at me, and the boy I was crushing on laugh. Out loud.

::Sigh::

The memory has scarred me... for life!! To this day I will not walk up to a group of people, I almost never ask questions out loud with more than two people around and I do not give group workshops. So when my friend asked if I would come speak to her girl scout troop about what I do and what it takes to run a photography business to earn their photography badge, my cheeks burned and I was petrified!

I realize that the girl scouts are not a room full of people at WPPI, but the fear was down right irrational. Lucky for me, they were fun and eager to learn! We did a two part mini badge workshop. Part one.. what I do and why, gear list and the business side. Part two... a styled shoot put together 100% by them!

The girls did a great job using our location {a local school that would not normally be our first location choice}, styling our two fabulous little models and finding fun ways to direct them.

While public speaking will never be my calling, I hope I inspired the girls to ask questions out loud and do what they love.

Dreams and Surprises... {Sneak Peek} || Mission San Juan Capistrano Wedding Photographer

Lately I have been thinking a lot about dreams, wishes and life. I have been trying to teach our kids that they can dream out loud about anything they wish for in life and to not be afraid to figure out how to make those dreams come true. It took me a long time to start dreaming out loud and yesterday one of those dreams came true.

When we moved from Virginia back to Southern California last year, I met up with a friend at the Mission San Juan Capistrano for a girl's afternoon. We were talking about her upcoming wedding at the Marbella Country Club as we strolled the historic mission grounds. When we passed the Fr Serra Chapel, we lit a candle and I was overcome with the beauty of this gorgeous little church. I told her that my dream was to shoot a wedding at the Mission, specifically in that chapel and have the entire mission to ourselves for incredible pictures.

Yesterday, my dream absolutely came true. I was blessed to shoot the wedding of a high school friend and live my dream out loud.

John and Diana surprised their family and friends with a beautiful evening. They thought they were coming for a family mass at Fr Serra Chapel, when they were really invited to share with them the sacrament of their marriage. Just a little sneak peek of our beautiful evening.

If you know me then you know that I am obsessed with Badgley Mischka shoes.. specifically pink ones!!  Once I saw these, I knew the day was going to be a-mazing!

{{Featured}} A Blissful Nest.. Pool Party Edition {commercial} || Pasadena Children's Photographer

 I can't even think of summer time with out images of lazy days by the pool and having friends over to celebrate the sunshine. When Rebekah of A Blissful Nest asked me to do a {commercial} shoot for her Pool Party Collection, I could not wait to see what she came up with!

The color combination made my heart swoon, and the set up was a-mazing!! Add in a couple of super cute little models and it was enough to send me into a summer party frenzy! Americana Summer... SoSaucy {commercial} || San Diego Children's Modeling Portfolio Photographer

Welcome summer! BBQ's, beach days, bikinis and sunshine! Day one into the kids summer break and we are in full on summer mode. Ok the kids are, but I spent most of the day editing. It took me twice as long to get through a set of pictures, but summer oh summer how I have missed thee. No homework to worry about, or bedtimes to adhere to, and I am pretty sure they hit me up for about 15 popsicles today before we spent the better part of the afternoon at the park.

 My summer lovin started a few weeks premature when we did this super fun styled shoot for SoSaucy to show off her new hair goodies. With the first day of summer officially launching tomorrow, I thought these might get you in the mood for a little Americana summer fun.
